Maylarch is proud to announce it is celebrating its 40th anniversary of providing unparalleled environmental services across Oxfordshire and the South.
The award-winning contractor has been delivering excellence in demolition, asbestos removal, land remediation and waste management for the last four decades to make it a go-to choice for private and public sector clients.
First founded in 1984 by Philip Brown, Maylarch has consistently grown in size and reputation and now employs nearly 60 people from its HQ at Worton Park, Cassington.
Maylarch began life as a property development company before quickly moving into land clearance and then demolition following a major housing demand. By 2002 the team had expanded into asbestos clearance and surveying to make themselves a one-stop shop for hazardous waste.
Maylarch’s Operations Director Kevin Bowerman joined the team in 2003 and has since played a key role in taking the business from strength to strength.
Kevin said: “I joined Maylarch at an exciting time in the business and was keen to be part of our ambitious growth plans.
“Within my first year we relocated to Eynsham which meant we could expand the team and take on even larger projects.
“We’ve nearly doubled in size from when I started and we now work on a brilliant range of projects for numerous high-profile businesses and organisations including Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford Brookes University.”
In 2018 Maylarch was acquired by the M&M Group to cement the Group as leading waste solutions experts in Oxfordshire, the Midlands and the South.
“It’s a pleasure to be part of the M&M Group,” explained Kevin. “We gelled together really quickly and it’s only helped us continue to grow. I share a similar ethos to Group MD Rob which means we have similar priorities and directions we want to pursue.
“This shared vision makes it feel like a family company and helped us fit naturally into the Group structure. We’re encouraged to maintain our own values whilst feeling closely connected to the other businesses in the Group which really works for us.
“One of the things that really unites us is our shared commitment to the teams we work with. Our people are what have helped us to reach this great milestone so we are passionate about making sure they feel rewarded and fostering a sense of community and professional pride.”
The company culture is illustrated by the fact that Maylarch has a strong track record with staff retention. Several members of the team have worked for Maylarch for decades – Dragos Owancea joined the team 22 years ago and Chris James joined more than 24 years ago. On
top of this, Maylarch has many team members who are celebrating five and ten-year anniversaries.
“I’m incredibly proud that Maylarch has reached its 40th anniversary,” said Kevin. “It’s a true testament to the team we work with and the excellent service we deliver.
“Looking ahead to the future we hope to continue to be a leading environmental services contractor to even more clients and work on more exciting projects. We hope to further expand our team and the types of service we offer to cover more facets of demolition and waste management.
“Sticking to our founding principles of the ‘Maylarch Way’ is what will help us achieve our goal of long-term, steady growth. The principles underpin all our work and highlight our commitment to delivering the highest quality product to every single client and drive us to work towards a shared goal.
“The M&M Group’s Visions and Values really align with our philosophy so we are confident we will have an incredibly successful and mutually beneficial future together.”
Rob Fluckiger, M&M Group Managing Director added: “Congratulations to all the Maylarch team for reaching such an impressive anniversary. It highlights the standard of work you deliver day in and day out for your clients and your commitment to excellence.
“Maylarch is an integral member of the M&M Group and we look forward to seeing your continued growth and success.”
